A peak television audience of more than 20 million Italian viewers watched Roberto Benigni preach on the Ten Commandments with a comical twist.
On 15th December 2014 when he explained the first three Commandments on RAI 1, Mr Benigni’s programme was watched by 9.1 million people while on 16th December he was watched by more than ten million people. (story continues after the photo)

He explained the Ten Commandments by occasionally making reference to the current politician situation and corruption scandals involving key politicians and parties in Rome and other cities.
Mr Benigni joked that since politicians in Rome knew he would talk about the Ten Commandments, they decided to break them all.
The popular Italian actor, comedian, screenwriter and director claimed that God made a special Commandment specifically for Italians: “You shall not steal”. It seems God directly wrote it in Italian, Mr Benigni said.
He also made reflections on love, respect for workers’ rights, important role of immigrants, equality between men and women, faithfulness, respect and care for parents and the elderly, etc.
